Tribal Bhawan inaugurated at Dari

Dharamshala, 17 January : Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh performed foundation stone laying ceremony of Dharamshala-Mcleodganj ropeway to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore at Inter State bus Terminus, Dharamshala of Kangra district today.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that after completion of this ropeway project, it would reduce the travel time from Dharamshala to Mcleodgang from two hours to 10 minutes. He said that it would have 1638 meter length and hourly capacity of 1000 person per hour. He added that the project would be completed within two years. He said that it would be noise free, electrically driven, eco- friendly and non- polluting project and would help in reduction of 500 tonne of carbon dioxide emission. The project would be executed by Dharamshala ropeway limited which was formed by TRIL Urban transport private limited and Power Himalayas.
Shri Virbhadra Singh said that State Government was promoting alternative transportation facilities like ropeway in the State particularly in major towns and tourist destination so that vehicular pressure on the road could be minimized. He said that it would go a long way in boosting the tourism potential in Dharamshala, which was a prominent tourist destination and added that it would provide safe and secure journey to the tourists. It would also give beautiful view of landscape, flora and fauna without affecting the environment.
He said that possibilities would be explored to setup such ropeways in other prominent places to give impetus to the tourist activities in the district.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated Tribal Bhawan at Dari constructed at an estimated cost of rupees 118 lakhs. This multi-storey building would have facilities of three dormitory, office, rooms, hall etc. He also laid foundation stone for the construction of balance work or improvement of 9.5 Km long Fatehpur-Sukkar-Masrehar-Matour road under NABARD to be improved at a cost of Rs. 355.16 lakhs. The Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of water supplies scheme of Khas Khanyara, Sokni-Da-Kot, Mouli Haran Di, Mouli Laran Di and Sidhpur in Gram Panchayat Khanyara to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 149 lakh.
Earlier, Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh, who arrived for winter sojourn at Dharamshala today, was given warm reception at Helipad, Teri, Mcleodganj by Speaker Himachal Pradesh Vidhansabha Shri B.B.L Butail, Transport Minister Shri G.S. Bali and Urban Development Minister Shri Sudhir Sharma. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Rural Development and Panchayti Raj Minister Shri Anil Sharma.

State Government were present among other party workers and local people who extended rousing welcome to the Chief Minister at Dharamshala.
The Chief Minister also listened to the public grievances at Circuit House and directed the district administration to redress these on priority basis.
