CM announces 15 percent increase in ‘Nazrana’ of local deities

SHIMLA-----Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced 15 percent increase in 'Nazrana' of Local deities. He was addressing the gathering during the closing ceremony of the week long International Kullu Dussehra Festival at Kullu today. 

"It was for the first time in the history that a revolving fund was created for those temples which were vested under the Government or were under the occupancy tenants (Mujaras) and a sum of Rs 25 thousand was given in the first phase to such deities for upkeep of temples" said  Shri Virbhadra Singh, adding that funds won't be any constraint for the age old temples in future too. He said that Himachal was land of God and Goddesses and no effort would be spared for providing every facility to the Kardars of these deities besides other temples all over the State. He said that the local deities were involved in day to day lives of the people of the State and inseparable part of our life. 

He said that our deities should not be commercialised by few who carry their palanquins in bazars asking for money which in itself was a great insult to deities and the people. "The people should refrain from this practise" he said strictly. 

The Chief Minister congratulated the district administration for getting registered the traditional Kullu folk dance (Nati), dedicated to the girl child, in Guinness Book of world records. He said that it was necessary to preserve our traditions and carry forward the message   for the future generations. The mass folk dance, in which more than 12000 women folk of the district participated, showcasing their traditional culture and customs was a step towards conserving and showcasing our traditions besides a loud and clear message of saving the girl child.

"Though the previous government had performed foundation stone laying ceremony  'Atal Sadan' but nothing constructive was done thereafter and neither any budgetary provision was made", he said adding that he had laid foundation stone of Rs 14 crore Auditorium which will house more than 700 people and boarding and lodging for 60 people for which a sum of Rs 13.38 crore had been sanctioned to deputy commissioner Kullu,  which will facilitate the 'devlus' (Kardars) of the local deities visiting Kullu in various fairs and festivals. 

He said that Himachal Pradesh has fast progressed along with passage of time and there were as many as 34000 kilometres of road-length as of now stating furthur that today every household was having electricity connection, clean drinking water facilities and many irrigational schemes and the day was not far when we will provide 100 percent drinking water facility to the people of the State. 

He said that the road from Bhuntar to Manikaran would be widened and metalled and said that the government will take up the matter with the hydel projects to maintain these roads as it was due to heavy truckloads and machinery of these projects that these roads get destroyed.

He said that the Kullu Zonal hospital which was started during the congress regimes has been upgraded to 300 bed hospital and also hinted that may in near future it can take shape of Medical College and hospital. He said that the government was opening three more medical colleges in Chamba, Hamirpur and at Nahan in district Sirmaur and the work on medical college Chamba would be started this year. He said that a time will come that the government may propose to upgrade the zonal hospital in Kullu to a medical college.

The government was committed to provide basic health services at the door steps of the people of the State and in near future these institutions would be strengthened.

As far as education sector was concerned there were as many as 94 colleges in far flung areas of the State including five sanskrit colleges. "It has been observed that these colleges were catering to the educational needs of the girl child in such areas", he said adding that the girls in these colleges had outnumbered boys. Today there were 1610 Senior Secondary Schools 880 Government High Schools, 2236, Middle Schools and 10776 Primary schools imparting education to the children. He said that the government was not against the public schools and exhorted the people to send their wards to government educational institutions.

 "We were grateful to the successive congress governments in the centre which gave enormous funds for the development of the State" he said, adding that the present NDA government has scrapped off the Planning Commission and has constituted NITI Ayog, of which he was also a member, but the funding pattern for the special category states and hill states was still not clear and the flow of financial aid from the centre has slowed down and certain heads under plan and non plan for state fundings have also been withdrawn. 

He said that the State BJP had always acted with vengeance towards him but he had always emerged stronger and was in politics from the last 50 years. "I am not Aaya ram or Gaya ram", he said, but a strong congress worker and will ever remain so and the property I have inherited was from my ancestors.There were two Chief Ministers of BJP in the history of the State, Shri Shanta Kumar and  Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal. There has been difference of political ideology with  Shri Shanta Kumar but Shanta Ji was a man of principles as opposite to Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal who always framed false cases against him twice while Shri Dhumal was Chief Minister, but he came out clear from the session trials held. He said he resigned from the central Ministry to upkeep the sanctity of high office of Union Minister just to face session trial and was acquitted in the case as well. " I am not Chief Minister due to the wishes of Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal but due to the love and people of the State", he said.

agencies to probe against my assets. "I respect and fully trust the Law of the land and ultimately the truth will prevail" he asserted. 

"No State Government was against sports activities, but the irregularities committed by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association(HPCA), which got registered itself fraudulently in the name of Himalayan Players Cricket Association in Kanpur and later converted into a company won't be tolerated", he said. The Chief Minister said that the HPCA if gets it registered under the co-operative Act would be given due share. He said that all the members in HPCA were either the persons from one family or from Punjab. "Let it function democratically with voting rights to the members elected from within the State" said Shri Virbhadra Singh. He also advised the media to report the truth and not exaggerate the news and the views.

The Chief Minister also released a Compact Disc (CD) dedicated to Girl Child and a souvenir of Kullu Dussehra. He also distributed prizes to the contestants of fashion show on women empowerment, in which women and girls between age groups of 15 to 85 from all over the district, participated enthusiastically.

Earlier the Chief Minister performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of Police Station building Kullu to cost Rs 5.5 crore. The three storied building, being constructed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) would be completed by March 2017.

Ayurveda and Co-operative Minister, Shri Karan Singh honoured the Chief Minister and other distinguished guests present on the occasion.

MLA, Shri Maheshwar Singh also welcomed the Chief Minister and spoke on the occasion. He thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating projects worth crores and especially for enhancing the 'Nazrana' of the deities. He also urged for adequate sitting space and increase in financial aid of 'Devtas' of outer seraj area during the Dussehra festivities.

General Secretary HPCC Shri Sunder Thakur and DCC President Shri Budhi Singh Thakur also spoke on the occasion.
