SHIMLA----Union Health Minister Jagat Parkash  Nadda on Saturday demanded resignation of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh after the CBI conducted raids on his residence and multiple locations in a disproportionate assets case.

He also strongly  rejected the Congress charge that the CBI was being used for political arm-twisting of BJP's opponents, saying the case against Singh is the culmination of preliminary inquiry the Central agency started against him in 2013. Nadda added that the case was initiated when UPA was in power.

"It is a clear case of corruption. An FIR has been registered against the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister in a disproportionate assets case. It is evident that he misused his position as Union Steel Minister during UPA's rule and indulged in corruption which has been exposed now in this case. He has no moral right to continue," Nadda said.

The Health Minister said the preliminary enquiry against Singh was instituted in 2013 when UPA was in power at the Centre. "The FIR against the Himachal Pradesh CM is a culmination of this preliminary enquiry. There are no excuses left for the Congress and the tainted Chief Minister," Nadda said.

Nadda added that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh had become a den of corruption and the common people were suffering. He attacked the Congress for putting up lame defence and targeting the CBI in a bid to shield the Chief Minister.
