Specialized health care services provided at Kaza

SHIMLA---A Spokesman of Health Department said here today that the department has taken a major step in the health care delivery services in the remotest tribal subdivision of Kaza in district Lahaul and Spiti.
            He said that a team of doctors had organized a camp at Community Health Centre Kaza on 27th & 28th September, 2015 where endoscopy of 41 patients was done. The patients were given reports and treatment on spot. He said that this procedure was done for the first time in Spiti valley and an awareness campaign for the Prevention and Control of the disease was also held. The team was led by the Head of the gastroenterology department, Dr. Brij Sharma along with Professor Community Medicine Dr Anmol Gupta.
            The Spokesperson said that the tele-health services in collaboration with Apollo hospital Chennai had been running in the CHC Kaza providing tele consultation to the locals from the specialist, many of whom were advised for upper GI endoscopy but were not fulfilled due to inability of the people to reach the desired destinations for the facility.
            The spokesperson said that this was the 4th Visit of the team from IGMC Shimla to Kaza subdivision for the ongoing project of Department of Gastroenterology & Department of Community Medicine on the prevalence of Hepatitis B & C and their risk factors in the area which is funded by NHM Himachal Pradesh.  He added that the data collection and blood collection from more than 4,000 people out of 12,547 people has been done.
            He further said that the team would be analyzing the socio-demographic profile along with all tests including HBSAg,HBCAg,PCR,Alpha Feto Protein and LFTs Report which would be ready by the end of April 2016 and shared with Government with recommendations.
