Health Minister stresses to implement PC & PNDT Act strictly

SHIMLA-- Health & Family Welfare Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur said that State Government has achieved best indicator in health sector and Himachal is leading State in the country in providing better health care facilities to the people. Shri Kaul Singh Thakur was presiding over the 6th meeting of State Supervisory Board constituted under PC & PNDT Act here today.
Shri Thakur said that State had made tremendous progress in the field of health adding that extra efforts have been made to improve the sex ratio in the State. He stressed the need to implement PC & PNDT Act more strictly in the State, besides launching mass awareness. He said that educational camps should be organised at district and block level for sensitising the people to educate public representatives, Asha workers, Aganwari workers and other stake holders so that they could aware the people in their respective area for improving the sex ratio.
Health Minister said that total 261 health clinics have registered in Government and Private Sector in the State where Ultrasound facilities were available. He said that 226 inspections had been done throughout the State during April to 31st August, 2015 and during this period the registration of two clinics had been cancelled. He directed the officers to keep strict vigil on all the ultrasound machines functioning in the State.
Shri Thakur said that State Government had increased the price money to any individual who gives the information of a person doing pre natal test illegally from Rs. 10 thousand to Rs. one lakh. He appealed the people to give information of such people who were involved in pre natal sex determination test and illegal foeticide activities so that the such evil could be checked in the society.
He directed all the Chief Medical Officer to convene meeting of Supervisory Boards at district level regularly. Members also gave their valuable suggestion to improve sex ratio in the State on the occasion.
Director State Health Protection and Regulatory Board and Secretary State Supervisory Boards Shri Rameshwar Sharma conducted the proceeding.
MLA Smt. Asha Kumari, Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri Vineet Chawdhari, Deputy Commissioner Una Shri Abhishek Jain, Director Health Dr. D.S. Gurang, Chief Medical Officer of Shimla, Una, Bilaspur, Kullu and Hamirpur Districts and official and non official members of the board were present in the meeting.
