Dharmshala--- delegation of the Gandhi Peace Foundation on Friday expressed its solidarity with the Tibet issue and all the Tibetan martyrs who self immolated to protest Chinese rule at a press conference at the Lhakpa Tsering hall, Ghangchen Kyishong.

Karma Yeshi, member of Tibetan Parliament, thanked the delegation led by Radha Bhatt, Chairman of the Foundation, Kumar Prashant, Secretary, Dr Sudarshan Iyenger, member, Chandan Pal, Secretary of West Bengal Gandhi Peace Foundation and Surendra Kumar, former secretary, for their support to the Tibetan cause.

Recalling the foundations set by late Indian freedom fighter Jayaprakash Narayan, fondly known as JP, a social activist and friend of His Holiness during his early days in India, Bhatt said, "Jayaprakash Narayan always advocated and showed solidarity with the Tibet issue. He was one of the first to spread the message all over the world that Tibet should get its freedom.

"We were concerned and sad about the self immolations that are happening in Tibet for the past 5-6 years. We thought that it is not only to be sad rather we should do something about it. So, we have sent messages to all the Head of the Nations and peace organizations asking them to contact China and say something about it because this is the most cruel thing that is happening in Tibet under the Chinese government."

Kumar Prashant said 'the J Factor' - Jawaharlal Nehru and JayaprakashNarayan, played an important role for the Tibetans in establishing the exile society here in India.

"Nehru was the main force who gave full moral and political support to Tibet and the support of the Indian people came through JP. Therefore, the J-factor played a big part in establishing the Indo-Tibet friendship. Moreover, we consider the triangle that the J-factor and His Holiness the Dalai Lama had formed very precious."

Calling him the 'Adhyatmikguru' of both the nations and acknowledging the continuous effort of the Tibetan leader, he said, "After Gandhiji's demise, Dalai Lama's name comes at the very top in the list of those who had practiced Ahimsa for the betterment of a country, world and humanity."

The foundation vowed its continuous support to the Tibet cause until Tibet gets autonomy which His Holiness strives for.

He also called for a special session on Tibet in the Indian Parliament addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The delegation also attended the morning session of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile which is currently holding its tenth session. They also met with the representatives of various Tibetan NGOs in Dharamshala and also held discussion on wide range of issues with the Speaker, Deputy-Speaker and the working committee of the Tibetan parliament.
