CM announces new bus stand for Chamba

SHIMLA--------Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh said that to keep the pace of development ongoing adequate finances were being ensured for strengthening health education and road network all over the State.

Chief Minister was addressing mammoth public meeting at historic Chamba chowgan today. He said that bus stand would be constructed near Sheetla Temple Bridge by demolishing the old Jail which had been shifted to Rajpura. The construction of new bus stand was a long pending demand of people of the town which would help in decongesting the Chamba town and smooth flow of traffic would be ensured.

He announced to upgrade seven high schools to government senior secondary schools which include Shilla Gharat, Gagla, Saach, Mangla, Kumharka, Dhulura and Kolka. He also announced to upgrade Kurena and Banjal middle schools to government high schools and Kurtha-Dhar, Fatehpur, Gadrad, Bunjal-Deewankhana, Daroga and Tipra primary schools to government middle schools. He announced new primary school for Kali village in Pilyur gram panchayat. He said that PG Degree College, Sultanpur (Chamba) will be completed soon to facilitate the students of the area.

Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Chamba was one of the oldest town of the State which had distinct culture and customs. The millennium celebrations of the town were organized by the Congress Government in 2005. He said that Congress Governments had always given priority for the development of Chamba district and various colleges had been opened in the district by the Congress Government. He said that Government would fill up the vacant posts of doctors in the district to provide better health care to the people of this district.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government had taken a decision to enhance social security pension from Rs. 500 to Rs. 550 from the next financial year and the grant under housing scheme had been increased to Rs. 75,000. He said that uniform income limit of Rs. 35,000 per annum had been fixed for eligibility to avail benefit under various government schemes. He added that the State Government was providing foodgrains at subsidized rates to about 37 lakh people under Rajiv Gandhi Ann Yojna and 35 kg. of foodgrains were also being made available to all the BPL families. He said that Rs. 175 crore were being spent as subsidy during current financial year and provision of Rs. 220 crore had been made for the next financial year to safeguard the people from price rise.

Forest Minister Shri Thakur Singh Bharmouri said that the State Government had amended the TD rights and the Timber would be available at cheaper rates. He said that monkey sterilization operation was being carried out

in the State and special emphasis would be laid on habitat plantation enrichment so that the monkeys could get sufficient food in their natural habitat. He said that as many as 205 forest guards had been appointed for the efficient management.

Asha Kumari, MLA, Shri Chander Kumar, former MP, Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Chairman, State Pollution Control Board, Shri Surender Bhardwaj, District Congress President, Shri Pawan Nayyar, HPCC Secretary, Shri Neeraj Nayyar, Chariman, APMC, Chamba and Shri Yoginder Sharma, Chamba Block Congress Presdient also spoke on the occasion.

Shri Kewal Singh Pathania, Vice Chairman, State Forest Development Corporation, Shri Luxmi Dutt Sharma, ex-President Chamba Nagar Parishad, Shri Dildar Ali Bhatt, Chairman, Haj Committee, and other prominent person of the area were present on the occasion.
