Himachal Pradesh CM Prem Kumar Dhumal announced a slew of sops for government employees, pensioners and daily wage earners as the state celebrated its 39th anniversary on Sunday.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion of the 39th statehood day at Dehra in Kangra district on Sunday, Dhumal announced 10 percent additional interim relief to state government employees and pensioners with effect from 1st February, taking the total amount of interim relief to be given to them to 20 percent.
The Chief Minister also announced a 10 percent hike in daily wages and part-time wages in the state from 1st March, this year.
About 28,000 daily wage and part-time wage earners in the state will now be getting Rs 110 per day from March onwards, an official release said.
Dhumal also promised to include 15,000 more eligible social security pensioners in the relevant category and supplying subsidised essential commodities to them under the Public Distribution System (PDS) from the current financial year.
Announcing a hike in the old age pension given to ex-servicemen and their widows, he said it will be revised from the existing Rs 200 to Rs 330.
He also released Rs 25 crore for road development in Kangra district, Rs 40 lakh to check female foeticide besides unveiling a plan to upgrade the civil hospital at Dehra.
