Dharamshala: The members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile
will meet here for the sixth session from 8 to 16 September 2008.
The Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat has issued the announcement Wednesday, 14 May.
The members have to report here at the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat on 7 September, noted the announcement.
Sessions of the Tibetan Parliament are held twice every year, with an interval of six months between the sessions.
The annual budget session of the Central Tibetan Administration is convened in March.
The present 14th Parliament consists of 43 members. The election is held after a term of five years, when Tibetans elect ten members each from the three traditional provinces of Tibet - U-Tsang, Do-tod and Do-med. Tibetans representing the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and the traditional Bon faith elect two members each. Three members are elected by Tibetans in the west - two from Europe and one from North America. In addition, His Holiness the Dalai Lama directly nominates one to three members with distinction in the fields of art, science, literature and community service.
