SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh government has made all the preparations to launch the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) from April one in all the 12 districts of the state.The scheme is already in force in four districts of the state. The Centre has already approved the proposal to start the scheme in the remaining eight districts of the state. Srikant Baldi, Principal Secretary, Rural development department, nodal agency to implement the scheme, told that all the spade work to enforce the scheme in the eight district has been done. Jobs cards for the unemployed had been prepared. The panchayats had also been asked to identify the work which would be started under the scheme, he said. Baldi said the Centre had given Rs five crore to the state which had been placed at the disposal of district rural development agencies for spade work. He said Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal would formally launch the scheme from a panchayat in Masobra block of Shimla district on April one. Baldi said the state is likely to get Rs 250 crore in a year and about two lakhunemployed youth would benefit from the scheme.
